Linux Searching for Files

I recently met up with a friend who told me that he found that the “find” command under linux was not so straightforward, so here’s a post to help him and others out.

Under linux to search for a file, you could do

find directory_to_search_from -name file_to_look for

e.g
find / -name hosts
which would reply with the following if you are root:
/etc/hosts

And if you have some free time, check out on ‘tree’ 🙂
